Endling research edition!?

Hi all,

It's been a minute or two since we last had something to share with you, but that's about to change! As you may or may not know, Endling was developed as an exam project at the IT University of Copenhagen. That's right, as quirky and rebellious as the game turned out to be, it was actually made for school! Now, almost a year later, Endling is once again being used in an academic context - for science, of course!

This time, members of the team have implemented a few discrete changes that allow us to better understand how the game is being played and what people think of the experience as a whole. While data collection may be an end in itself to some, we are specifically gathering this information as part of a course on data-driven design and development.

All of this is made possible through what we've taken to calling Endling: Research Edition, a lightly modified version of the game, separately available through a link to Google Drive. Moreover, aside from tracking a key few parameters during play, the research edition of Endling also opens up an associated Google Forms page when exiting the game. There's a handful of questions in there that we'd love for you to answer. This greatly helps us in our research, but just as importantly, it gives you a unique venue for sharing your thoughts on the game with us!

If you've already played Endling, you'll know that our desire to learn and improve is more than a little resonant with the game itself. And if  you haven't, well, now is your chance! Importantly, if you don't want to bother with any of this research nonsense, the old-and-trusty, non-data gathering version of Endling is still available, there to remain untouched forever... or will it? In due time, we hope to present and entertain you with a compilation of our scientific findings, but something else - and much bigger - looms on the horizon!

What could it be? A sewer level? More meatballs? An ever better beach ball?

You will just have to wait and see!
